The holidays upon us, it can often be an advantageous time to secure deeply discounted products. How do you find the best deal when you’re among the different prices and pressure to secure discounts before they’re gone. Different items are known to be on sale at different times of the year, and the best deals of the year aren’t exclusive to Black Friday. Here are some tips to purchase a variety of big-ticket items.
The biggest reason for the price decrease comes from supply and demand. Most people don’t exactly get excited about buying a home in the middle of winter, especially after the high of the holidays. It’s a lot easier to look for a home in the spring when the weather is better and the days are longer. Of course, smart buyers see this as an opportunity since fewer buyers mean less competition.
It’s not just the weather that is holding buyers back. January is when we get all our credit card bills from the holiday spending season, and that may cause some potential buyers to rethink their timelines. Despite what your mortgage lender may tell you, it’s not exactly a great idea to shop for a home when you have a high amount of consumer debt.
August and September are some of the best months to buy a car in Canada.
__but, wait a minute!
You’re already out with the kids buying them school supplies. Or, you might still need time to recover from the rush and the costs of a late-summer getaway. This may seem like a stressful time to do so. However, the great deals roll around this time for a few reasons.
I. Usually, Model years end in September. The new model will come out. That means a price drop for last year’s model. So if you’re not eager or able to buy a new model, then you could save money by getting the old one.
II. Some dealerships may offer back to school sales and incentives. These sales target parents who want to buy cars for their high school or college-aged kids who can drive. That often means a discount, but also a rebate or some feature that’s not usually offered at regular prices.
December
Yup! that is true. December is one of the best months to buy a car in Canada. Dealers like to keep their inventories lean. Around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, they try to get rid of the cars they don’t want. That often means a price drop at that particular dealership. Not only do the prices drop, but they’ll throw in some offers to make a car appealing. These may take the form of a bonus feature such as an audio system or GPS upgrade.
End of the season
For example, tank tops and swimsuits will be deeply discounted in August and September. This can be a good time to stock up on a few warmer-weather essentials that you can still wear through September while the weather is still good.
Black Friday or Boxing Day (always the day after Christmas) is when retailers have extended business hours and offer customers discounts anywhere from 50%-80% off merchandise and products. So, if you’re ever visiting Canada during the holiday season make sure to stick around on December 26 for some intense shopping.
White Sales, usually in January, is when retailers attempt to encourage customers to go shopping. Since traffic in stores usually drastically dies down after the holidays, retailers try to offer discounts to rev up their sales. The sales are usually not as good as holiday sales but they are the best you’ll see for the next few months.
Back to school(September)
Not only is it back-to-school but many people are returning from vacation or are updating their wardrobe for the upcoming fall. Retailers know that it’s not only kids who need a new wardrobe, so many stores that sell only adult clothes also offer sales and discounts. Back to school sales usually start early August to early September. The sales are okay for the most part and are usually the only time you can get upcoming fall fashions at a reasonable price.
